The cave you most fear entering, has your gold. ~Joseph Campbell
Tony Robbins says that 80 percent of success is due to psychology—mindset, beliefs, and emotions—and only 20 percent is due to strategy—the specific steps needed to accomplish a result.
I believe this is true.
Most of the heavy lifting I do with my life coaching and business clients, and the women in my business building course Profit from Your Passion is centered around fear.
The more important your dream is to your soul’s evolution, the greater the fear.
Many of my clients experience fear as they get close to a life or business dream that is deeply meaningful to them.
I see this most often with my business clients who are building their business.
I see all the flavors of fear and underneath the fear is usually one of these two beliefs:
I’m not good enough to __________.
Who do I think I am to ___________.
Both of these beliefs create such a strong emotional reaction from shame that you shrink down and play small from fear.
It breaks my heart. It hurts me to see this.
I know that pain. I’ve lived it. I’ve learned how to work with fear.
It’s why I get up everyday. It’s my “Why” I do what I do. I want you to experience the emotional and financial freedom that I’ve gained from walking to the edge of what scares me most and doing it.
Imagining, creating and giving birth to a business takes fortitude, and strength that you don’t know you have in you.
You find it by taking tiny steps towards your dream despite the fear.
It takes mental stamina and perseverance.
Following a dream that is near and dear to your heart brings up various flavors of fear that are disguised as these:
- Procrastination
- Perfectionism
- Fear of Success
- Fear of Failure
- Overwhelm
- Resignation
- Fraud Syndrome
- I’m Not Ready Yet
- Stress
I believe that your biggest lesson on the planet is to practice courage to move through your fear.
Your freedom is on the other side of your fear.
It’s your lesson in this lifetime. I’ve experienced this every time I’ve practiced courage and walked to the edge of what I’ve feared most and practiced courage.
This is what I want most for you – to practice true courage and to go right up to the edge of what scares you most.
This is the experience of being “truly alive.”
When you experience fear around a dream you hold close to your heart, ask yourself what fear is telling you.
Listen deeply without resistance.
Ask your fear this question:
Are you here to help me stand tall and play a bigger game or are you here to have me shrink back and play small?
Decide to take positive action in the face of your fear.
Take one tiny step toward that dream and do it. Consciously tell yourself, “You were so brave.”
Take another step and rinse and repeat after each small step you take towards your dream.
In the face of fear, choose love.
You are here to share your divine gifts and talents.
Love yourself for taking a courageous step towards your dream.
You can do this. I know this because I have done it.
I didn’t die. I wasn’t rejected by those who love me and the internal and external rewards were huge.
If you still feel fear, ask your future self what she would say to you.
I want you to think of her as an older and wiser version of yourself. She is the woman or he is the man you aspire to be.
Journal with your future self. Let your future self comfort and nurture you as you talk about moving through your fear.
What would make the future you proud to do?
Now – go take that small step and practice courage.
I’ve experienced walking to the edge and through my worst fears. If I can do this and thrive, so can you!
The rewards are remarkable. I’ve made more money than I’ve ever dreamed it was even possible for me to make in my businesses.
I’ve traveled the world and visited a village in Bhutan that had never seen a group of westerners. We taught them the Hokey Pokey and it bridged the language gap. After all, isn’t that what it’s all about?
Remember – it’s the experiences of life you will remember at the end of your life not the material things.
Your greatest lesson on the planet is to face your fears and that is where your freedom lies waiting.
That is your soul’s revolution in this lifetime.
Brene Brown says, if courage is your value, it won’t be comfortable.
It takes practice, perseverance, and patience.
You can do this. You are brave. You are courageous. There’s only one you that is endowed with your unique gifts and talents. The world needs that special something that only you have.
Courage feels like freedom. I promise.
