Got worries? Try this technique.

We’re living in challenging times – threats of nuclear war, gun violence and extreme weather patterns that have destroyed people’s homes and lives.

How do we handle the worry when the media is playing bad news over and over?

Let God (or the Universe) handle it.  

Last year I read about the God Box. It’s a technique that originated from the 12-step program. It’s a simple technique to help you reduce worry.

You simply write down on paper what you’re worried about and date it and then place it in your God Box. This allows you to hand over your worry to God or the Universe.  Then you let it go.  No more worrying about it.

If you find yourself worrying about this same worry again, say to yourself that you’re letting God or the Universe handle it. When you release it out to the Universe, you’re in essence taking mental clutter off your mind.

You can also try this with anything you want to manifest such as:

  • You want a partner or someone to date.
  • You have issues with your health that you want to resolve.
  • You worry about not having enough money.
  • You worry about the state of the country or our world.

This practice helps you live more in the present moment instead of worrying about a future that hasn’t happened yet.

Much of our thoughts are repetitive thoughts we think over and over again.  If you can begin to observe your thoughts, then you can give more and more negative thinking over to God or the Universe.

I find this helpful because when I read about threats of nuclear war, I envision a frightening future.  This scares me and I am in a future that hasn’t happened yet.  So I observe my thoughts and bring myself back to the present moment.

This practice helps stop your mind from going through a spin cycle of fear and worry. It releases it to a higher power to handle it for you.

When I started my own God Box, I wrote down things that I needed help with such as:

  • Letting go of my work while I healed from the car accident.
  • Loving my body and all of its scars so it can heal.
  • Sending wishes for my son to find love and happiness.
  • Learning to have a new relationship with money since I’m not earning income right now.

What’s amazing is that I wrote something down that I wanted for my son and put a date on it. And one year later it’s happening for him – it’s all good;)

So the next time you find yourself worrying, write it down, date it and put it in a box or container and let God or the Universe handle it. This frees you to be more present and happier.
